When Half-Life 2 was released, came Valve with Half-Life: Source. fast food nation A general porting of the original fast food nation Half-Life, only that it built on code and technology from Half-Life 2 Many fans felt that this was a disappointment. They had used the same models for everything and improvements as dynamic water physics engine was not fully utilized. The potential was huge and they believed that this could have been done better.
A group of fans was so certain of this that they started projects "Black Mesa: Source", later named Black Mesa. They were determined that they would make the entire Half-Life again, just with all the features and benefits of Half-Life 2 engine. This they started in 2004 and has worked steadily, determined to finish.
Just over seven years later, they have finally been finished. More or less in any case. They have not yet progressed beyond the Lambda Core chapter, but those who remember fast food nation the game well will remember this chapter as the last area before the alien planet Xen, the final boss awaits. It is more or less amazing is that the game is completely free. You can go to their website and download a mod end package from there. The game adds so the Steam library whereupon Steam even download a so-called "SDK package" for Source, ie what it needs to run fyiskken and graphics from Half-Life 2 (All in all, about 5 GB of data).
They made most of the models again, except what they could fetch directly from Half-Life 2 There are new voice actors too, so everything is recorded again for having such good quality as possible. All in all it's a whole new experience, just that you've seen it all before in poorer graphic quality. Take a look at a selection of screen shots I've taken through my weekend has been richer in nostalgasms than ever before. (Click images to view large version).
