Does Sweat Clean Your Skin?

No. That is not the primary function of sweating. It is merely part of the body’s air conditioning system and 99% water with trace elements and salt. Salt helps your cells regulate the water loss. Salts are why sweat can be sticky. Sometimes drugs and things inside the body are excreted by sweat, but it is a secondary thing not primary. Heavy metals and “toxins” are present in trace amounts only. Your filtration and detox system is the liver and kidneys. Also your poop to some extent. Oil glands are different again. Dirt sits mostly on the top portion of the skin. Just bathe and you will be good. A mild cleanser like Cetaphil is also you need if you want something additional to remove the dead skin cells that get into pores on the face.

Acne = bacteria (P. acnes) + oxidized skin cell plug on the pore + inflammation due to the bacteria eating fat that is naturally secreted by the skin. Vitamin A creams remove the plug - blackheads. Certainly opening pores with heat can help you cleanse.

Detoxing through sweat is not a thing. It has become popularized by the supplement industry and natural health sector. Your body is excellent at taking care of things everyday. Again your liver does and kidneys do the heavy lifting. Some heavy metals are harder to remove, but these can over a long time. Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet (ideally like a rabbit with a lot of veggies/fruit and likes fish). Wash to remove the dirt and pollution in the air. That's all you can really do. Sweating more and exercise can make you feel great though.

Hope this helps!
