Grace Coddington Interviewing Sofia Coppola Is The Best Thing You'll See Today

As well as having one of the best names in the biz, Face To Grace – good, no? – Grace Coddington’s show has a stellar line-up of guests. The first of the six-episode series on IMG’s streaming channel, M2M, features Ansel Elgort, he of Baby Driver fame.

And if that duo didn’t pique your interest when the programme aired in September, Coddington’s second interviewee will. The flame-haired British Vogue contributing editor invited Sofia Coppola for a tête-à-tête in Mr Chow’s, the Mandarin restaurant owned by the stylist’s former husband.

“We are like the two most shy people who really don’t like to talk in public and here we are,” Coddington begins. “I don’t know why I actually agreed to do this series because I’m so shy and it’s so not me. I’m really intimidated by personalities, celebrities and famous people.”

The conversation turns to how the esteemed director first met Coddington – one of two people she has ever been star struck by – to her original plan to become a fashion editor, Marc Jacobs’s dinner parties, and the 15th anniversary of her seminal 2003 indie film, Lost in Translation. For two self-professed introverts, it’s a charming glimpse into the creative worlds that they have kept so private despite mass interest surrounding them.

Tune in at M2m.tv/watch/sofia-coppola to hear Coppola muse on directing an opera with Valentino and her chance encounter with Helmut Newton on the day of his death, and watch the trailer for Coddington’s next show, which suggests Nicolas Ghesquière will be her third guest.
